FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Winning Weigh classes available in Angus

Free Winning Weigh weight management classes run by NHS Tayside are on offer in Forfar and Arbroath.

Successfully developed by NHS Tayside dietitians, Winning Weigh is not a diet but aims to help people change their eating and exercise habits which in turn help them to lose weight. There is however, an eating plan designed to help people get on the right track.

The Winning Weigh weight management programme for Angus residents is run by trained staff from NHS Tayside. Classes last approximately one hour and are held weekly in Forfar and Arbroath.

The classes are run by Weight Management Support Workers Ian Coleman and Rachel Watson, supported by dietitians from the Tayside Adult Weight Management Service.

Ian said, “Winning Weigh is a friendly, interactive course designed specifically for people who are serious about taking on the challenge of losing weight. There are different topics each week including healthy eating, portion control, diet myths, and behaviour change.

“We make sure that participants receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based information while creating an informal and fun environment.”

Places are limited to 16 per group, but if the class is full there will be a waiting list for places becoming available.

To join Winning Weigh you must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 25 but not higher than 35. To find out if you are eligible and for information about where and when the classes are held, please contact Ian Coleman or leave a message on 01382 424156.
