New art exhibition at Stracathro cafe

The art gallery in The Pavilion @ Stracathro cafe in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital is hosting a new art exhibition until 21 April featuring the work local artist Ann Morphy.

Speaking about her artistic background, Ann said, “Drawing has been a hobby all my life and after school art exams I did a degree in Architectural Studies. Then family and work took up most of my time and I only returned to painting seriously when we moved to Angus about 10 years ago.

“I have attended various classes in this area - all good - and now am a member of the Coastal Colourists at Johnshaven and Lochside Art Group in Montrose. I have had commissions for portraits and paintings of people's homes but mainly concentrate on local landscapes.”

The exhibitions at the cafe are changed approximately every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display their work. The cafe is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.

The majority of the art on display at the gallery is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20% commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital. All money raised is used to enhance the Stracathro Hospital environment for patients and visitors.
