FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Improvement to emergency dental service

Emergency dental treatment for those not registered with a family dentist will now be available at either Kings Cross or Dundee Dental Hospital on days when either service is closed for training.

Arrangements have been put in place for emergency dental treatment to be available at either Kings Cross or Dundee Dental Hospital when either service is closed. A few times each year, the services are temporarily closed to allow for staff training. An agreement is now in place for the services to provide cover for each other on these days to ensure emergency treatment is still available to the public.

The emergency dental service at Dundee Dental Hospital operates a walk in appointment system whereas patients attending the service provided at Kings Cross are assessed prior to being given treatment. This means that to access emergency care when Kings Cross is covering for the Dental Hospital, patients will have to phone Kings Cross on 01382 596990 to book a same day appointment.

NHS Tayside will give advance notice of the days when either service will be closed through the local press and on its social media sites.
