Donation to paediatric diabetes service

Inchture schoolgirl Isla Bruce popped in to the Tayside Children’s Hospital today (Friday, 20 October) to present a cheque for £520 to the paediatric diabetes service.

Accompanying Isla to handover her cheque at the hospital were mum Louise Bruce and granny Denise Robertson.

The money was raised by Isla’s family and friends who were invited to donate a £1, though many donated more than this. Donations from Isla’s granny, Jessie Watson and money raised from a friend’s sponsored head shave brought the final total to an amazing £520.

Isla, aged 6, has type1 diabetes and has to regularly attend the hospital for check-ups to monitor her condition.

Accepting the cheque, paediatric diabetic specialist nurse Scott Graham said, “I am delighted to accept this very generous donation from Isla. It was very kind of Isla and her family to think of raising money for the service.

“The money will go towards the Paediatric Camp, which Isla attends, which is held in an outward bound centre where children with diabetes spend a fun-filled active week meeting other children with diabetes and also spending time learning more about diabetes.”
