Singing together in Auchterarder!

Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust’s mixed long term conditions group shared their singing talents today (Monday) at a musicality event in Auchterarder.

The event, held at The Archway Cafe Church Community Centre, was part of Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust’s (THAT) Musicality programme.

The programme, which is supported by NHS Tayside and The Gannochy Trust, is the final programme from THAT’s Mixed Long Term Conditions Perth and Kinross Project 2017.

Singing coach Debra Salem worked with the participants during the eight-session programme, which is designed to explore creativity through singing and music in a fun and enjoyable way.

Debra said, “This group has really grown in confidence and have got to know each other through music and have had great fun.”

THAT development officer Karine Neill said, “It’s been great to see people respond so well to music.

The project offers a new opportunity for people with a variety of conditions to improve their wellbeing through creative measures led by professional artists.”

A participant in the project said, “Debra has been great, it’s been great fun and wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves.”

THAT promotes the therapeutic value of arts-based programmes to enhance quality of life, to promote

social inclusion and to empower the individual to make an important contribution to their health and wellbeing.
