The community based NPT (near patient testing) anticoagulant service has been available in Tayside since 2003 for the management of stabilised patients on Warfarin.
This provides ‘one stop appointments’ within various clinic locations at the patient’s convenience and domiciliary visits for the housebound. The appointment will include capillary blood sampling, INR testing, Warfarin dosing, follow-up arrangements and patient education.
Patients can be referred to the service by their GP or secondary care.
