Donation from ladies darts league hits the mark

The Arbroath District Ladies Darts League has donated £457 to the breast screening unit at Ninewells Hospital as a thank you for care received by a team member.

Jean McNicoll, former patient at the unit and member of the darts team joined other players to present a cheque to staff at the unit in Ninewells.

Explaining how the money was raised, Jean said, “We held a darts competition and organised a raffle. The winning ticket belonged to Fiona Smith in the team and she kindly suggested that the money should be donated to the breast screening unit at Ninewells.

“I am delighted to hand over the cheque today as the care I received in the unit was absolutely wonderful so it’s great to be able to give something back.”

Accepting the cheque on behalf of the unit, specialist nurse Avril Gunning said, “I would like to say a huge thank you to Jean and all the ladies in the darts league for their generous donation. It’s so nice of them to think of us. We will put the money towards items that will make patients in the unit more comfortable.”
