Dundee Community

The Dundee Midwifery Unit (DMU) is located within Ninewells Hospital itself but is completely separate from the Obstetric Consultant Unit. The care is provided by a team of midwives who are dedicated and passionate about the normality of pregnancy and birth.

The DMU has 6 birthing rooms, two with birthing pools where the emphasis is on normality and the natural experiences of birth. All of our birthing rooms have access to a bath or shower. Once you are in our unit we encourage you to feel at home and take advantage of all our facilities i.e. birthing balls and/or our birthing stool and CD players.
