How do Paediatric Physiotherapists support children and families?

Physiotherapists are responsible for the assessment and physical management of problems due to accident, injury, ageing, disease or disability.
Paediatric physiotherapists bring their specialist skills as physiotherapists and have additional expert knowledge of child development and childhood conditions.
We can offer advice and signposting to information where required or an assessment of the child/young person's needs to inform an individualised approach to their physical management to maximise their physical abilities and functioning in their daily life.

What can I as a parent/carer do to help?

The links at the bottom of the page provide information and advice on common concerns for each age group of children and young people.
Our professional network the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists also has a website which can explain more about the role of a paediatric physiotherapist and has useful leaflets for guidance on commonly seen conditions.
If you remain concerned then please contact us and we can discuss this over the phone or you can complete a Request For Assistance (RFA) form.

How to make a referral/contact us...

We accept self referrals (also known as Requests for Assistance).  This can be done by filling in our Request for Assistance (RFA) form.
Alternatively you can contact us via the Children and Young People's Therapy Services Advice Line.
