Fussy eating and restricted diets

It can be typical for children to go through phases of "fussy eating". It's natural to worry whether your child is getting enough food if they refuse to eat sometimes, but it's perfectly normal for toddlers to refuse to eat or even taste new foods.

Some children with autism have a restricted eating pattern that goes way beyond fussy eating.  This may be due to increased sensitivity to light, touch, sound and taste.
