How is a Kidney Transplanted?

It is a surgical procedure and involves removing a healthy kidney from one person (Donor) and giving it to another person (Recipient). In Tayside our transplants are done in the East of Scotland Transplant Centre, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE), although we work with all centres in the UK.
