Angus Palliative Care - Symptom Control Clinic

Individuals who attend the centre remain under the care of their own GP and consultant / cancer specialist however they also have the opportunity to consult with one of our doctors who attend daily.

We assess symptoms and then provide advice to the patient and their primary care team regarding management to improve control of these.  Our doctors and nurses can also refer to other professionals for their input : for example, this could be the dietician, occupational and physiotherapists, chaplain, dentist, speech and language therapist or other.

Consultations can currently be carried out at the Macmillan Centre, Stracathro, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Strathmore Palliative Day Service in Forfar on Wednesdays as well as at home and in the community hospitals if required.

Who is in the team?

The multidisciplinary team includes specialist doctors in Palliative Medicine, nurses, an occupational therapist and access to physiotherapy, chaplain and dietician. The team is also well supported by volunteers.
