Frequently asked questions

What is KSF?

The Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) is the staff development part of Agenda for Change. It will be mandatory for most NHS employees to have a KSF-based job description (called a post outline, in KSF language) and an annual KSF-based appraisal (called a joint review). The KSF provides a single, consistent, comprehensive and explicit framework on which to base review and development for all staff.

Replacing eKSF with Turas Appraisal

e-KSF has been replaced with Turas Appraisal. Turas (Gaelic for ‘Journey’) is a single digital platform developed by NHS Education for Scotland and is already being used by some staff for other purposes, such as ePortfolio and QI Hub.

From August 2018, staff can view all previous KSF reviews, PDPs and objectives recorded on e-KSF through Turas Appraisal - by selecting the link on the Turas system home page. Further guidance on accessing this information is available within the Staff Guidance.

Information on the most common queries regarding Turas Appraisal, as well as system guidance and screenshots, can be viewed through the links below.

Need further assistance?

If you require further assistance please ensure all system queries are routed through the NHS Tayside IT helpdesk on 01382 424444. Please DO NOT use the green 'helpdesk' button within the Turas system, as there is currently a significant delay in response times from the national team.
