Care Governance Committee

The purpose of the Care Governance Committee is to carry out the statutory duties as outlined in NHS MEL (1998)75; NHS MEL (2000)29; and NHS MEL (2001)74.
To provide Tayside NHS Board with the assurance that robust clinical, care and professional governance and clinical risk management systems and processes are in place and effective throughout the whole system for NHS Tayside.
The activities that underpin clinical and care governance are adverse event and clinical risk management, continuous improvement, person centredness and clinical effectiveness.
To provide assurance that decision making about the planning, provision, organisation and management of services, which are the responsibility of Tayside NHS Board, takes due cognisance of the quality and safety of care and treatment.
To oversee the clinical governance and risk management activities in relation to the development and delivery of the Clinical and Care Governance Strategy, ensuring it fits with national strategies, takes into account local population needs and demographics, and is geared towards quality, sustainable community and acute services.
